    Ironman clearly believes they’re entitled to a closed course or they would assure that public right of way remain open. Their volunteers are indifferent to hostile toward everyone who’s not a racer. Don’t misunderstand me, I have admiration for anyone who can exploit the ego drive of so many for their own financial gain while throwing a bone to local charity. But they could run their event, throw that bone, and still not rob legally entitled citizens of the only route between OC and San Diego counties. If they wanted to.

  • Nice video, really slick, but as I watch I’m struck by the irony.

    While on the one hand, they’re encouraging biking to work while at the same time they are mandating Levels of Service that thwart local efforts to do traffic calming. Worst of all, they’re teamed up with Caltrans to build a major freeway intersection in San Juan Capistrano, the Ortega/I5 monster, that will discourage pedestrians and cyclists, compelling more people into cars.
