The evening of 5/16/2012 marked the 10th annual Ride of Silence (RoS) around the world. Angelique Martinez, 16, of Oxnard organized a RoS in memory of her brother Anthony, 6, who was struck and killed by a pickup truck last Thanksgiving, was selected by the Ride of Silence board of directors as this years’ “champion and hero”.

1/31/12: Construction starts at The Great Park.
“ nearly 5,000 homes and 1.2 million square feet of commercial space is underway- with a major feature of the development will be 23 miles of trails connecting the neighborhoods to a train station, schools, retail shops and nearby Cleveland National Forest.”
3/15/12 Double the number of homes at the Great Park?
“The developer is proposing to build 10,700 residential units, far more than the 4,894 units already approved by the Irvine City Council. The developer would reduce the area dedicated to nonresidential uses to mitigate the impacts of the new homes.”
4/10/12 Great Park Letter proposes “a 25-year lease that would expand the company’s current 78.9-acre site to nearly 183 acres. ”
